Pевитализација америчко-немачких односа од 2021. године и питање Северног тока 2

Пројекат Северни ток 2 је временом прерастао у камен спотицања америчко-немачких односа. Активности Трампове администрације (САД), укључујући и директан притисак на Немачку, у правцу заустављања пројекта, који је Немачка ангажовано подржавала, наметнуле су ову тему у врх агенде билатералних односа Вашингтона и Берлина. Од краја 2019. године питање конструкције Северног тока 2 било је један од централних разлога конфронтације САД и Немачке. Победа Џозефа Бајдена на председничким изборима 2020. године отворила је простор за свеобухватну обнову америчко-немачких односа, при чему је међу предусловима за ревитализацију односа САД са кључним савезником на међународном плану било и постизање компромиса око завршетка Северног тока 2. Споразумом САД и Немачке из јула 2021. године, заснованом на узајамним уступцима, обезбеђено је комплетирање Северног тока 2, без активирања америчких санкција, док се Немачка обавезала на предузимање низа мера у заједничком адресирању повезаних изазова и ризика које Северни ток 2 поставља из америчке перспективе.
